Wo ist mein Rheingold?

The Three Rhinemaidens are swimming in the depths of the river Rhine, as Alberich the Nibelung (a night-dwarf) enters. The Rhinemaidens tease him as he tries catch them.

Then a ray of sunlight shines on pile of gold. The Rhinemaidens tell Alberich that if someone should forswear all love, he would be able to forge an all-powerful ring of the Rhinegold. They tell this to Alberich because they think he would never forswear love, as he was so lustily chasing them. But they are wrong: Mad with despair, Alberich forswears and curses all love and he steals the Rhinegold and flees before the shocked Rhinemaidens can take any action.

The Stolen Gold?
It seems like the Germans also have lost their gold in real life also. Nevertheless, they work restlessly to get their Rhingold back from the Americans, which seem to have spent the hoard. The Americans seem to have forsworn trust and chosen to keep the Rhinmaidens gold.
To-date, Germany have managed to beg back 215 tonnes. If the Americans keep their part of the deal the Germans have been forced to accept, they will only get a small part back to Frankfurt.

Silver - The River of Heaven

Try to imagine a stack of 1000 million Silver Maple Leaf 1 oz, 3,18 millimeter investment silver coins reaching for the heavens. The stack of coins will be 3,168 kilometer high. (10383 feet).

One Billion Silver Coins
The Worlds yearly production of silver for 2014 was a little more than 1000 million ounces.
One billion ounces may seem a lot of metal, but compared to the production of iron, copper and aluminum it is not much.

196 million ounceswere turned into Coins and Bars
61 million ounces went to Silverware
212 million ounces were transformed into Jewelry
695 million ounces were used in industrial fabrications

Supply for 2014 was1062 million ounces* and demand was 1064 million ounces*. Figures for 2015 will be close to the year before and 2016 will probably see the same demand if the growth-trend of solar panels continue upwards. *Source: The Silver Institute

Solar Power on the Rise
However, the future is sunshine bright! Industrial demand for silver will increase because the world at large needs solar energy to offset global warming. This again will lead to higher demand because the average solar panel needs half an ounce.
In the future silver in solar panels might face competition from aluminum, because this metal is dead cheap and silver is not. But then again silver is the best electrical and thermal conductor of all metals. Is is used in many electrical applications, particularly in conductors, switches, contacts and fuses. Silver possesses qualities similar to gold, enjoys greater reflectivity and can achieve the most brilliant polish.

The Kingfisher Kookaburra

The Australian Kookaburra is a Kingfisher.. You can watch this fascinating bird in many parts of the world, but somehow the Australians have managed transform this bird into a national symbol.

Legal Tender in Australia
The coin is legal tender, but it is not one of the most popular investment coins among investors, but it is popular as an inexpensive collector item. The 2016 coin shows a middle age Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse side depicts a Kookaburra sitting on an old fence post with twisted barbed wire and a leafless tree in the background. Struck from 99.90 fine silver the Australian Kookaburra is one of the bullion coins that change their reverse design annually. The Kookaburra is issued as 1 oz, 2 oz, 10 oz and 1 kilo coins.

At the time of writing, 18.01.2016, you have to pay NOK 179 or USD 20 for the 1 oz (31.135 g) coin in Oslo.

The Year of the Monkey (2016) er nå til salgs. Det er også mulig å få tak i The Year of the Goat (2015) og The Year of the Horse (2014) myntene. The Year of the Rooster (2017).

Somalisk 1-kilo elefant
Du kan også forsøke finn.no, men her finner du hovedsakelig samleobjekter.

FARE!
Investering i sølvmynter

Big Silver Coins are more Fun

Some coin collectors think that BIG is beautiful. They collect FAT 1-kilo silver coins!

Coin collectors and investors
There are coin collectors and there are investor coin collectors. However, if you are a silver coin investor, your options are limited when combining investment and the pleasures of collecting. Your main goal may be investing your money in silver, but your secondary goal is the pleasure and fun of coin collecting. You know that silver investment coins rarely become valuable as collector items because they are minted in huge numbers. For example; the silver American Eagle one-dollar coin 2015 had a record selling mintage of 47 million.

Fat silver coins are cool
Most investor coin collectors prefer one ounce coins, but some collectors focus on 1-kilo coins. These are unpractical and difficult to store and handle, but the details are incredible. One 1-kilo coin represents 32 one ounce coins and at the moment of writing you have to shell out close to 5000 NOK ($ 580) for a K of silver. But then again you will get a rare collection you can show off to your fellow collectors.
So what’s in store? Or what’s on the market 2016 if you are going to start a big coin collection? Well, the best buys in Oslo are the Australian Lunar 1-kilo coins. The Australian Year of the Monkey is for sale. If you fancy Australian coins, you can also purchase the Koala and Kookaburra kilo coins. 2017 ses The Year of the Rooste 1-kilo coins.

BEWARE!
There are quite a few fancy offers “out there”. Do not become one of the suckers that are born every minute! As a silver investor coin collector you should not pay an unreasonable premium for your 1-kilo coins. The price should not extend more than 10 – 20 % of the price of 32 one ounce Canadian Maple Leaf coins. If you pay much more than that, you have turned into a coin collector and not an investor coin collector. Some of the 1-kilo coins offered are hugely overpriced seen from an investment point of view.

WARNING!
If you live in Norway, Customs has decreed that investment coins are not money, but a commodity. Therefore, you will pay an additional 25 % Value Added Tax. Anyway, no matter where you, live check out import tax laws before buying from another country. Silver Investment Coins
